Queens College defeats St. Michael’s Women’s Soccer in Doubletree Classic
Colchester, Vt. – In the final game of the tournament, Queens College took the lead three minutes into the game when junior Andrea Slaven (Floral Park, N.Y.) got control of a deflected ball in front of the net, edging it past Purple Knights freshman Brittany CoCozza (Cranston, R.I.). Queens junior Laura D’Amore (Bayside, N.Y.) followed suit later in the half, putting another deflected ball passed CoCozza for a 2-0 lead.
Midway through the second half, Purple Knights freshman Megan Olsen (Glenmont, N.Y.) took advantage of a loose ball in front of the Queens’ net, taking the shutout away from the Knights.
CoCozza recorded five saves in the game, while Queens’ freshman Allison Breakey (Frankfurt, Ill.) made four saves in their 2-1 victory over the Purple Knights.
The DoubleTree Kick Off Classic’s Most Valuable Players were Merrimack’s Gramprey and DeGrann, and Queens’ Breakey.
The Purple Knights will open their season against the St. Rose Golden Knights on Saturday, Sept. 5th at 12 p.m. on Doc Jacobs field.
